How we worked
At AngkorHUB, we had two passions: being productive, and being positive. We found the ideal way to integrate the two.
AngkorHUB was a coworking and coliving space where you’d meet, work alongside, and share a lunch table with inspiring freelancers, location independent workers, and entrepreneurs from across the globe. A place to get advice, network, and widen your opportunities. That was the productive part.
Beyond that, we also housed a social innovation center dedicated to the sustainable growth and development of Cambodia. By providing guidance and support and bringing together mentors from both the local area and our extended network of friends and supporters, we empowered local people to challenge and overturn the status quo. That was the positive part.
Our Team
Jeff Laflamme
20 years experience in the corporate environment as a Linux System Engineer in high-availability infrastructures in industries such as banking and telecommunications. Involved in multiple projects and startups either as a consultant or co-founder offering guidance on business, technical strategies or web development.
Jeff started AngkorHUB, a coworking space in Siem Reap aiming at reducing the skills gap in technologies in Cambodia.
Our social component
In a country where the living wage is set to 177 USD/month, while many people earn less than that, we believed we could create impact by empowering individuals who cannot afford to ditch their jobs to become independent. Just a little push and some people ready to give advice and share their contacts.
For these reasons we ran workshops, projects, training and incubation programs with other organizations and individuals. We networked with social enterprises and NGOs to stop re-inventing the wheel and start working together on a cause rather than focusing on the structure.
As a result, we developed incubation and social innovation opportunities, programs such as the Digital Nomad Mentorship Program and The Coworking Exchange.
A vibrant community
Conveniently located in world famous Siem Reap, just minutes walking from downtown and a bicycle or tuk tuk ride away from the beautiful Angkor Wat Temple, AngkorHUB held weekly pop-up bars, spontaneous movie nights, educational lectures and group vocational tutorials.
Recognition
AngkorHUB was featured on e27 and listed among Asia’s pioneer coliving spaces. What started in 2013 as a coworking project opened its doors to the public in 2014 and grew into a social innovation hub — combining workspace, accommodation, training, and startup incubation until COVID closed the physical space in 2020.
